Autopsy examinations of patellae revealed that there is no statistical relationship between osteoarthritis and the different Wiberg and Baumgartl types of patella. Wiberg's and Baumgartl's types of patellae appear to be physiological form variants and without importance in the development of femoropatellar osteoarthritis.
