The induction times for the precipitation of Aluminium Trihydroxide (Al203) from seeded pure caustic aluminate solutions were determined experimentally using a light transmittance technique. A correlation of the induction time with the initial supersaturation, initial seed surface area and the temperature was developed. The induct ion time was also correlated with the initial growth rate of the Al2O3 crystals.
