Condensed Abstract: Pulsed field ablation (PFA) has emerged as a non-thermal method for cardiac ablation for the treatment of arrhythmias. Several packets of high-voltage biphasic pulses result in the irreversible electroporation of targeted myocytes, rendering the tissue electrically inert. Although the ablation is non-thermal, the temperature of the metal electrodes used to deliver high-voltage pulses will rise due to Joule heating.
