This article reviews various pharmacologic approaches for pain management, highlighting traditional and emerging therapies. Opioids, while effective, pose significant risks such as tolerance and addiction, prompting the adoption of multimodal analgesia. Topical anesthetics, acetaminophen, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and steroids offer alternative or adjunctive pain control.
