The menisci play a key role in knee biomechanics and long-term cartilage protection. Preserving the meniscus is thus a major functional consideration in children and adolescents. In normal menisci, lesions are traumatic in origin. They are often vertical, in the posterior segment, associated with anterior cruciate ligament tear.
