Toxic effects of recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) were investigated in Sprague-Dawley rats by repeated subcutaneous administration. Four groups of 10 male and 10 female rats were treated with bFGF at doses of 0 (control), 40, 200, or 1000㎍/kg/day for 4 weeks. Additional 5 male and 5 female rats were used in control and high dose group to evaluate the reversibility of any treatment-related adverse effects.
